Joyce H. Derer

Joyce H. Derer, 72, of Bern Twp., passed away unexpectedly on June 21, 2021 at her residence.

Born in Green, NY she was the daughter of the late Harry F. Hart, Jr. and Edith H. Hart.

Joyce was employed as an Animal Handler Technician for Comparative Medicine Animal Research at the Penn State University School of Medicine in Hershey, PA. She later worked as a Veterinary Technician for a practice in New Jersey and at Quakertown Veterinary Hospital. Joyce always had a love for horses and will be remembered for her involvement in the 4-H Community and horse competitions.

She is survived by her husband: William J. Derer Jr, Children: Angela Minnich of Orwigsburg, Shawn Minnich of Hummelstown, Katie S. Derer of North East, MD, Mark W. Derer, husband of Cory of Birdsboro, and Step-son: William J. Derer, III., husband of Susana of Uwchlan. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brothers: Michael and David Hart and sister: Susan Lily.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola, R.C. Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:00AM. The family will receive friends and relatives at church from 10-10:45AM.
