Mary E. Scholz, 82, of Reading, passed away on August 6, 2025 at Graystone Manor in Huntingdon, PA.

She was the wife of Arthur C. Scholz. Together they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Born in Lancaster, PA she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Florence  A. (Reiker) Garber.

Mary was a graduate of Manheim Township High School. She went on to attend Elizabethtown University, later transferring to San Francisco State University. Mary was employed as a paralegal for Barley Snyder Law Firm for 25 years, retiring in 2009. She was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church, where she was also a member of the Senior Choir. Mary enjoyed many things during her life, but greatly cherished the many trips and cruises she took with Art and spending time with her many cats.

She was predeceased by her Sister: Patricia A. Cass and Nephew: Charles Cass.

In addition to her Husband: Arthur C. Scholz, she is survived by her Sister: Joanne Garber of Mill Creek, PA and nephew: David Cass of Portland, Oregon.

A Memorial Service will be held at Bednar Funeral Home, 2910 Pricetown Road, Reading (Alsace Twp) on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM, Rev. Mark Brophy, officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10-11:00 AM. The Interment will immediately follow at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Blvd, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
